marathon training week 11 of 20

Sunday 29 March 2009 10km RACE, 00:45:31. “Premiärmilen”  4°, overcast. Route wet, muddy, slushy. HR 166/179. Decided to race with the injury and a lot of pain. Unable to breathe deeply and correctly. Spasms occasionally seize my body. Added appx 30sec./km overall. Should have been 40-41min. Still, I’m glad I participated. Total distance for the day 17km.

Saturday 28 March 2009  5km, 00:27:32.  1°C, clear. Slightly slushy route. HR 147/166. Relaxer run for tomorrow’s 10km race. Rib pain lingers with intensity on deep breath. I shouldn’t race. I’m well conditioned for 40min, but this injury will add minutes.

Friday 27 March 2009 Unscheduled day off. Deep rib pain and spasms persists. Need more rest it if I’m going to race Sunday.

Thursday 26 March 2009  17km 01:26:37. -1°C, clear and calm. Route mostly dry. HR 143/176. Infernal, stabbing pain with every deep breath. Rib isn’t fractured, though. Legs feel great. Sunday’s 10km race still on.

Wednesday 25 March 2009 Unscheduled day off. Stabbing rib pain is just too much to handle.

Tuesday 24 March 2009  15km 01:14:15. -5°C clear. 2cm new snow. HR 132/177. Scheduled hill work turned into a 15km fartlek, 500m on and off. I’m in a lot of pain from Sunday’s fall, especially at the end. Questioning this Sunday’s race with injury.

Monday 23 March 2009  5km 00:28:05. -1°, overcast, 20% snowy route. HR 142/160. Routine run save for the chest pain from yesterday’s slip. Deep breathing brings about stabbing pain with spasms.
